Introduction to Dining in Cabo San LucasA vacation in Los Cabos is as much a treat for the mind and soul as it is for the discerning palate! Many establishments in Cabo San Lucas do double-duty, operating as restaurants during the day and energetic, popular bars once the sun sets. There is a little something for all types of taste buds, ranging from traditional Mexican cuisine to a veritable global feast that includes fine Italian, European, American and Pan-Asian restaurants. BreakfastBreakfast in Mexico can be a simple affair, consisting of a coffee and sweet rolls and followed later in the morning (11am) by a more substantial meal. Egg dishes served with beans are popular breakfast items. Of course continental, or American-style, breakfasts are commonly available in restaurants and resorts through out Cabo. One of the best places in town for breakfast is Lenny's Deli across from the Pemex station just as you come into downtown Cabo from the highway. Lenny's offers a selection of imported cheeses, meats and kosher products for purchase and has American-style deli sandwiches and breakfasts on the menu. Open Mon-Sat 7-4pm LunchIf you feel like a picnic or want to grab some lunch to go pick up some tasty Arrachera meat which usually comes with fresh hand-made tortillas and salsa. Specify how you would like it cooked (medium, well-done etcc.) and they will BBQ some of this tasty marinated beef right before your eyes. Also visit some of the many Taquerias in Los Cabos for an authentic, tasty and very cheap lunch. Head to "The Office On The Beach" situated on Modano Beach - an excellent spot to people watch, enjoy happy hour and also have a meal. When the tequila shooter guy comes around (he dresses as Poncho Villa) happy hour gets a little more happy. Try the 'Miami Vice' (a piña colada and daiquiri mix). DinnerMost of the major Los Cabos hotels have at least one restaurant on premises, however if you want to get away from the hotel for a bit, Los Cabos has some excellent and varied cuisine choices. For a more romantic dining experience, try Edith's Cafe at Camino a Playa El Modano. Enjoy authentic Baja cuisine from the outdoor mesquite grill; sit at candlelit tables in a palapa-covered patio, good wine list. One of Cabo San Lucas' best restaurants. If you need a break from Mexican cuisine there are Japanese and Thai Restaurants, a Brazilian Steakhouse, Cheezeburger-Cheezeburger, Johnny Rockets, and most of the major US fast-food chains in the downtown area. If you would like to get out of busy downtown Cabo, travel down the corrider (15 min by car) to San José del Cabo - Tropicana Regional DishesMexican cuisine is widely known for the intense and varied flavors and colorful decorations found in their rich and spicy dishes. Most modern cuisine is based on pre-hispanic (Aztecs & Mayans) traditions combined with trends brought over by Spanish colonists. Novice visitors may want to stay away from the spicier dishes until their stomachs get settled and adjusted to the foods. Upset stomachs are common in Mexico and are caused by unfamiliar bacteria, travel stress and/or unpurified water. Some common Mexican dishes are:
