The Cabo Real golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones II, the Cabo Real opened in 1993 and has since hosted an impressive series of tournaments in Cabo San Lucas. These include: two Senior Slam PGA tournaments, three Taylor Made Pro Am tournaments & three Las Americas Tournaments. This Robert Trent Jones, Jr. design is known for its holes along the Sea of Cortez, which sit high on mesas overlooking the sea. Jones designed the course to test low handicappers, but multiple tees make it enjoyable for average players as well.

Layout

The Cabo Real complex now boasts two world - class golf courses. The 18-hole, par-72 Cabo Real Golf Course stretches over more than 7,000 yards of verdant landscape. The first six holes are in mountainous terrain, while others lie along the shore of the Sea of Cortez. Three of the holes are ocean front holes with expansive ocean views. The course is famous for its diversity having mountain, desert and beaches with rolling fairways cleverly dotted with bunkers. One can find the genius of Jones in the 12th hole which so beautifully designed that it is worth taking a picture. Another famous hole is the 14th, right on the beach near the Melia resort. Designed primarily for the low handicapper, the Cabo Real still has much to offer the less experienced player. Its breathtaking natural scenery is difficult to resist, regardless of one's golfing skills! Cabo Real Golf course is a real challenge especially the front nine.

Hole Description

It might be regarded as the among the toughest front 9 holes in Cabo San Lucas area. The front nine holes move up the mountain intimidating the player on every hole with its elevation. The next nine holes moves down towards the ocean again challenging the golfer with its drop in elevation. One of the most elegantly designed hole is the 5th hole which requires a shot from the tee over the canyon with extreme precision.

The mesmerizing view at the left of the canyon and the difficult shot is a unique combination of this hole with very less room for error. Hole 8th offers a great view to the Sea of Cortez from the highest point of Cabo Real Golf Course. Worth capturing the beautiful view on a camera! The 9th hole par 4 offers amazing play with water on the left. Hole no 10th is another short par 4 offering a eagle opportunity with its downhill slope. The next hole (11th) is another short par 4 with an elevated green while ending in the base of the mountain. Hole 12th (par 3) offers an excellent view going down towards the ocean. The next two holes are great short holes offering exceptional play especially the 14th hole which is par 4 leading to the ocean. Some find this hole a bit deceptive thus offering a great challenge for adventurous players. The beauty of the hole could be admired once you come on the green.

The next hole (15th) is regarded as one of the finest holes in Cabo San Lucas. It is one of the most visually beautiful hole along the ocean with famous Las Ventanas resort behind the green. The next three holes offer a unique challenging experience, specially the greens, which are a bit harder to judge.
