The Querencia Golf Course located between the hills of Palmilla and Costa Azul, near San Jose del Cabo, is the first completely private course in Cabo San Lucas. Built on 840 acres of hillside, the setting is largely desert, although there are also city and sea vistas to be appreciated as one moves through the course. Querencia Golf Course, being the first completely private course in Los Cabos lives up to its Spanish name - "Querencia" meaning a place to revitalize one's strength in relaxing atmosphere. The Querencia Golf Course is elegantly designed by Tom Fazio taking full advantage of its natural surroundings, providing a perfect balance of subtle breaks and contoured fairways.
Layout
It is 18-hole golf course opened in 2000 in a 840 acres property featuring villas, condos, spacious club house and state-of-the-art practice facility. The clubhouse is beautifully located near the Sea of Cortez offering amazing scenic views to its members. As for the golf, Querencia relies more on Cabo's mountain scenery rather than the sea, which is the most prevalent characteristic at the other courses. Given its private status, the course is tucked within the community, and has a very secluded feel.
Hole Description
Except the sixth hole all the holes are into the sand and rocky terrain. The first 9 holes are short with the sixth being the only water hole having a lake to the left of the green. Querencia relies more on Cabo's mountain scenery rather than the sea, which is the most prevalent characteristic at the other courses.
Summary
Given its private status, the course is tucked within the community, and has a very secluded feel. Overall, Querencia offers completely private and relaxed playing atmosphere offering a golf retreat second to none challenging experts and novices equally.
