If you are visiting La Paz, you will be pleased to know that Paraiso del Mar was officially inaugurated last week. There was much fanfare and hoopla to celebrate this first golf course in La Paz. After the whole scare of Swine Flu, this is definitely something to be proud of.
Not to be outdone, Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo and the Tourist Corridor have been labelled “Mexico’s Golf Riviera” with seven exceptional courses within an easy 20 mile drive. Jack Nicklaus, Tom Weiskopf and Peter Dye are a few of the great names associated with the design of these championship courses. While the courses are pricey, where else in the world can golfers tee off just minutes from their luxurious vacation homes and enjoy the sun washed shores of the Sea of Cortez, breath taking ocean views and have the added bonus of eleven months of rain-free vacation play!
Some Cabo golf courses offer memberships, but most of them allow non-members to play. Courses generally offer 20% to 30% off rates if you play after 2:00 or 2:30 p.m. This is actually a great time to play, because the temperature is cooler and play is generally faster.
