MYO - MAKE YOUR OWN .... WINE

Los Cabos opened its very first winery in downtown Cabo San Lucas. Californian wine aficondo, Robert Turnage, bought an old motor bike store and rebuilt it complete with a tasting room, wine cave and bottling plant. The lounge is tastefully furnished with plush leather couches and Turnage’s art collection adorns the walls.
He buys young wines from the small wineries in Napa, California, and transports the wines in large bladders into Mexico. Several varieties of wines are mixed together to create a new wine that is unique. In the wine caves which are temperature and humidity controlled, the wine is transferred into toasted oak barrels where it rests . The wine is then poured precisely and gently into bottles and carried to the nearby corking station. Here the oxygen is sucked out and the cork is compressed into the bottle, capped and finally the label is applied. This is a hands-on process as the machines are not run on electricity. All that is missing is the vineyard outside!
Los Cabos Winery will be selling wholesale to restaurants, hotels, supermarkets and liquor stores or simply stop by the winery and pick up your own bottles. Plans are under way for wine tastings, whole barrel purchases for the more serious drinker, custom labelling and climate controlled wine storage. You won’t have to sneak your bottles through customs as the winery will even help you legally import your own wine!
